My name is Alicia Wilson. I have worked for HFH for over 7 years. I have an active personal life outside of work which keeps me busy and never has a dull moment. I love my family and spend a lot of time with them. I have been married to my husband for 11 years and I love him dearly. I look forward to growing old with him and traveling around the world working on my bucket list. I love chocolate and icecream when I am in the mood. I have tried exercising multiple times but have not been consistent with keeping a regimen.
I enjoy helping other people and in this field helping people is our purpose. It is rewarding to see Hilo has providers who do not get sidetracked from the vision of health care they had when they decided to become a doctor. The healthcare insurance companies can make that quite difficult at times. I do see that our providers genuinely care about their patients health and that they strive to educate their patients about their health concerns.
I am Ann Milar. I am a graduate of Hilo High School and have lived in Hilo for most of my life. I have 2 beautiful daughters, Jana and Mariah, and 2 grandchildren, Anuhea and Aukai. I love spending time with my family and we get together every week for sunday dinner. I enjoy reading and spending as much time as I can with my family.
I graduated from the LPN program at HCC in 1994 and worked in primary care, substance abuse treatment, long term care and mental health. I later went back to school and obtained my BSN at UH Hilo and passed the RN boards to get my license in 2006. I then worked in a new long term care facility as a unit manager. After 5 years I then worked in a crisis shelter as the charge nurse and serviced patients in crisis with mental health issues. I am excited to be at Hawaii Family Health and work with the high caliber of professionalism, integrity and respect that all the staff embrace and practice daily. The physicians here hold themselves to a high standard and are able to not only give patient centered quality care but also incorporate a personal component. I am happy to say that we are a family at Hawaii Family Health.
My name is Kele (like “Pele” but with a ‘K’) McConnell-Soong and I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. I am currently engaged, with plans to be married in the spring of 2017. Free time is spent renovating our house, playing board games with our friends, and going on camping trips.
I am very happy to be a member of the Hawaii Family Health team and consider myself extremely lucky to work alongside a diverse and intelligent group of individuals. I have aspirations of going back to school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. After being a nurse for nearly a decade, I can say that Hawaii Family Health provides excellent patient care, and I look forward to growing within this practice.
My name is Michiko. I was born and raised in California, but my parents and large extended family were born and raised on the Big Island. I have always considered Hawaii my home in my heart so I was thrilled to finally move here in 2010. We enjoy many wonderful family gatherings and there is always something to celebrate. I am blessed to have a daughter and a son who are out in the world pursuing their own goals and who come to visit as often as they can. I am involved in my temple’s activities and appreciate opportunities to connect with my community.
I started my healthcare career working on an ambulance. Then I earned my community college RN and worked in the ICU in a large California hospital. After I came to Hilo, I pursued my interest in primary care – I want to help people stay OUT of the ICU! I have since earned my BSN at UH Hilo. I am currently enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at UH Hilo to become a nurse practitioner. I am incredibly fortunate to join Hawaii Family Health. This practice is dedicated to quality improvement and constantly translates innovative thinking into action based on the most up-to-date healthcare research guidelines combined with a respect for individual needs. The staff strives to provide the best possible care for patients and their families, and for each other. It is a privilege to be part of the growth and progress of Hawaii Family Health as we seek to provide our community with excellent care.
